Wayfaring Stranger
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through this world below
But there’s no sickness, no toil or danger
In this bright world to which I go
I’m going there to meet my father
I’m going there no more to roam.
I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home
I know dark clouds they’ll gather ’round me
I know my way is rough and steep
But beautiful fields lie just beyond me
Where God’s redeemed their vigils keep
I’m going there to meet my mother
Said she’d meet me when I come.
I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going, I’m going, I’m going home
I’ll soon be free from earthly trials.
My body asleep in the old church yard.
I’ll drive that cross of self denial.
And enter on my, my great reward.
I’m going there to meet my savior
To sing his praises forever more.
I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going, I’m going, I’m going home
